JUVENILE SMOKING.
By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, October 24. A case under the Juvenile Smoking Suppression Act was decided by the Magistrate to-day. A boy, under 15 years of age, was charged with smoking a cigarette on the stair leading 1o the dress circle of the theatre. The Magistrate held that this was not a puDlic place within the meaning of the Police Offences Act, and dismissed the case. If the Smoking Prevention Act was to be effective, it should be made to apply to anybody found smoking no matter where. Meantime the Act must remain to a large extent a dead letter.
