MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTEE, The Works Committee of the Masterton Borough Council met last evening. There were present—The Mayor (Mr J. M. Coi-adine), and Crs W.. Pragnell, A. Haughcy, J. Prentice and W. Morris. An application was received from Mr W. S. Lett for the extension of the water mains to Jean Street. The acting-engineer was asked to,report on the cost of the extension. The committee decided to recommend the Council to place a notice board on the Council's property in Bentley Street, warning the public from taking gravel from the locality. It was decided that when such notice had been posted the poundkeeper should take proceedings against any person removing gravel. Mr P. Hansen submittid an offer to rent the Council's gravel pit on South Belt for grazing purposes, on a yearly tenancy, at an annual rental of£l. The committee recommended the acceptance of the offer, provided the Council reserves to itself the right to enter the property at all times for any purpose.
