CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Council of, the Mastartori' Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting* yesterday afiernoon, there baing present—Messrs T. G. Mason (chairman), E. E. Chamberlain, C. Graham, J. C. Ewington, J. B. Moodie, T. Wagg, B. J. Dolan, E. H. Waddington, J. D. Cruickshank, and J. B. Keith. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs M. Caselberg and G. C. Summerell. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £l6 3s 2d. .Messrs Abraham and Williams wrote acknowledging the voce of thanks from the Chamber for the use of the meeting room in the firm's building, and adding that they would be only too pleased to continue the privilege until the new building was erected.',,;' Mr ,s \Yaddington moved that the. Postmaster be asked to under the notice of the Postal authorities a request from the Chamber that the limit in the number of prepaid circulars and letters passing through the Post Office should be reduced from 500 to 253. The motion was carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Cruickshank, seconded by Mr Dolan, it was decided, -to' invjte" Messrs F. W. H. Kummer, C. Hoffeins and Jensen, who are in the coal deposits' at Mauriceville, to attend the next meeting of the Council in order to ascertain what steps might be taken to further the development of the coal.
