THE WEATHER.

REFORTS FROM VARIOUS DISTRICTS. The unseasonable weather that is being experienced in New Zealand at the present time is evidently becoming a serious matter for farmers. Almost every newspaper in the Dominion contains accounts of shortage of feed, shortage of milk, and the loss of stock. A Manawatu farmer states that at, present he is only getting 211b of milk #er cow per day as against 311b at the same time last year. The 1 same farmer says sheep are also affected more or less by the great amount of moisture in the grass and it is practically impossible to get them into prime fat condition. A Marlborough paper- .reports that the extremely cold wet weather has | affected the quantity of the milk J supply at the Sounds Dairy Factory, and the Mataura Ensign says:—"The weather gets no better, but rather and reports of losses of lambs are conning in from all quarters, while the work of farmers among their sheep is both arduous and distressing." JPVery heavy rain fell in the North Canterbury district on Sunday night, and early on Monday morning, says a Christchurch paper. The ground, which was already wet and cold, will not be warm enough to promote rapid growing for at least a week. There was likewise a fall of snow on the hills, which also will assist to keep the temperature low, and, moreover, will delay the flockowners from obtaining access to their back-country sheep, which they are now anxious to inspect. The cold and rough weather is seriously affecting the dairy produce output up the coast, says the Wanganui Herald. .A Whenuakura farmer stated that instead of taking 2,0001bs of milk daily to the factory as he did last year he is only supplying I,loolb, a falling off of nearly 50 per cent.
