AN APPEAL REJECTED.

LONDON, October 16
The appeal of Dr. Carl Hau against the sentence of death passed upon him has been rejected and the sentence confirmed.
(Ur. Hau, an American lawyer, was sentenced to death at Karlsruhe, for shooting his mother-in-law at Baden in November last, in order to obtain her fortune. While he was awaiting trial his wife committed suicide in Lake Zurich, in Switzerland.)
