MASTERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL DANCE

The first annual social and dance of the Masterton Football Club was held in the Foresters' Hall, last evening, and was a great success. There were about 80 couples present, and as the floor was in capital order, a very enjoyable time was spent. The music ,vas supplied by Mr S. Ballard, and extras were played by Mrs Cochrane, Misses O'Leary and Reynolds, and Mr H. Cole. The M's.C. were the members.of the Committee, Messrs C. J. MacKellar, D. Bard. P. Barry, W. G. Lamb, J. O'Leary and J. Lyall, who also worked indefatigably in many ways to ensure the success of the gathering. An excellent supper was supplied by a large ladies' committee. A feature of the decorations on the supper table was four silver cups won by the club. They were: -The Wairarapa Rugby Union Cup 1887-8; Cup presented to the Wairarapa Rugby Union by Mr W. C. Buchanan 1892; Pownall Cup, ]906; and Renall Cup 1907. During the evening songs were rendered by Messrs S. J. Johnstone and S. Earee.

At an interval the trophies won during the season were presented to the successful members by Mr W. P. James, President of the Club, who made a brief speech, in which he congratulated the Club as a whole, and the winners of the trophies on their success last year. The trophies were won as follow:—Renall Cup (for the player who rendered most service in winning the Cup for the Club during the past three years) and Mr A. Henderson's medal for the best back in the senior team, Mr J. O'Leary; Mr J. W. Cochrane's medal for the best forward in the senior team Mr R. Spademan; Mr T. Porter's medal for the best back in the junior team, Mr P. Holmes; and the social committee's medal for the best forward in the junior team, Mr J. Hanley. Mr James also presented Mr W. G. Lamb with a handsome L. and Co. pipe on behalf of the members of the senior team as an appreciation of his services as manager of the team that visited Wellington during the season.
