TRENTHAM TRAINING NOTES. It was fine overhead at Trcntharn yesterday morning. The work was done on the outside of the course proper, which was in a wet and sloppy state. Matakokiri and Warlock were first out. The hurdler did two rounds and his stable companion one at half pace. De Witte gave Flectfoot a good break in a half-mile burst, the two-year-old passing the post first. Royal Blue did two rounds under a strong pull. Paritutu and Maniapoto jumped off at the fivefurlong post, and took Imin lOsec for the journey. Paritutu always had i\ bit the best of it. Wailmka held Ney safe at the end of half a mile. Clanchattan did a round alone. Mystification cantered round to the half- I
mile post and spurted home at his best pace. Marseillaise was several lengths in front of Shrapnel Shell at the end of five furlongs. Eona and Golden Gate ran half a mile smartly. Stake and Splendid Idea went together, moving freely. Zimmerman moved round t> the half-mile post where he improved the pace, and ran a mile and three-quarters, finishing up the task well. He had Intelligence as a companion the last mile of the journey. Moata ran a mile, hitting out well in the mud. Gawain and Dawn were restricted to easy pacing; also other members of S. Waddell's team. Martelio and Apa were sent half a mile in company, and St. Joe went about a mile, improving the pace at the end. Gazely and Aborigine ran home from the half-mile post, the two-year-old appearing to have the best of it. Gazely cantered round again and spurted another half, but; did not improve on his first effort. Douche and Formidable were not run out. The Porirua team and W. Davis' were not out before breakfast, owing to the state of the track. Most of the horses engaged at the meeting, excepting those trained at the old course, are now at Trentham.
