NATIVE SCHOOLS.

NAPIER, October 14. Mr G. E. Darton, whose statements with regard to the native schools have been denied by the Minister for Education, when interviewed to-day, reiterated every one of his former statements. Hj stated that his figures as to cost of native education and remarks as to salaries being paid independent of the falling off in attendance could be proved from Departmental documents, while his remarks as to comparison between the native and board schools sanitary conditions of the former, lack of certificated teachers in native schools and supplying of biscuits to native schools by the Department were all mat'.ers within his own personal knowledge. He added that on his return to Gisborne he would reply in detail to the statements of the Minister,
