MINIATURE RIFLE RANGES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 8. The Secretary for Education has just issued to Education Boards throughout the Dominion a circular letter embodying the proposals of the Government with regard to the establishment of miniature rifle ranges. It is as follows—"I am directed to inform you that the Minister is prepared to consider favourably proposals for the establishment of miniature rifle ranges in connection witli the public schools, and to make allowances in aid of such work on the basis of £ for £ on an amount suitable to the circumstances of each case, but not exceeding £SO for any one school. Further, on the establishment of any such range the Department will be. prepared to co-operate with Boards in the engagement of competent instructors in miniature rifle shooting. The Department has ordered from America samples of several low priced miniature rifles. These will arrive shortly, and after they have been examined I hope to be in a position to make some further communication to you on subject." ,
