The Times' New York correspondent declares that the majority of sober - minded Americans do not believe in the possibility of war with Japan. President Roosevelt certainly does not entertain such an intention; he honestly believes that the cruise of the fleet in the Pacific will do the fleet good, and possibly accelerate further naval apir:priations. NEW BATTLESHIPS. Received October 8, 8.13 a.m. NEW YORK, October 7. The Secretary of the Navy declares that the battleships Indiana, lowa and Massachusetts will remain in the Atlantic. Seven other battleships are being constructed, and of these the two last will be completed in eighteen months.
