ALLEGED "RAGGING."

AUCKLAND, October 3. i The Trades and Labour Council carried a resolution drawing the attention of the Minister of Railways to the fact that "ragging" is prevalent in Auckland, and asking him to take action in the matter. Mr Peek stated that he knew of instances in which vojng men who entering the engine sheds had been so badly treated that they were obliged to leave the service. In one case a young man was stripped and his body smeared with oil. Mr Rosser said he knew of a case j. i n the carpenters' trade in which a boy hat' been stripped and covered .with glue.
