WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report on their sale held on Friday last as follows:—We offered 30 bales of wool, 2,000 skins, 700 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was iirm at last sale rates. We quote:—Wool—Coarse crossbred 7d to Sd, rough and inferior 6d to 7d, pieces and bellies 4Jd to 5Jd, crutchings (good) 5d to GJd, crutchings (seedy) 4d to sd, locks 3d to 4d. Skins—Steady. No change to record. We quote:-Merinos 7d to Sd, fine crossbreds 81d to 93>d, coarse crossbreds Bld to B£d, dead skins 6Jd to 72d, dead hoggets Gkl to 7d, dry pelts 5d to 6kl, green skins 5s to 8s Id. Tallow—Firm. Parcels in shipping order to £26 10s, tins £l7 to* £23 10s, rough fat £l3. Horsehair—ls to Is 4d per lb. Horns—6s to 25s 9d per 100. Cowtails—ls to Is 8d per dozen. Hides. —All good-conditioned hides were strongly competed for at recent rates. Cut and slippy hides were slightly easier, We quote:— Ox hides (extra heavy) Ggd, Ox hides (50lbs to 701bs) s|d to 6|d, oxhides (SOlbs to 591bs) s*d to Gfd, -cow hides 4|d to su. calf ski £ (best) 6d to 7£d, calf skins (cut .and slippy) 3d to sd, hides (cut and slippy) 3d to 4Jd, stag hides 3d to 3§d, bull hides 2Jd to 3*d. Our next sale will bo held on Fridav, October 11th, 1907. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report : —There was only a small offering of wool, for which prices were slightly caster. Prices for sheep skins were on a par with last sale rates. Hides showed an improvement to the extent of from £d« to id p2r lb. For an extra heavy hide as high as BJtl was realised. The following gives an indication of the high prices realised:—Wool—lnferior crutchings, 3Jd to 4id. Sheep skins—Half bred and fine crossbred 9d to 9sd, crossbred B|d to 9d, dead 6d to 7£d, broken and inferior old to <s*d, skin pieces 3d, stragglers 42-d, ho«vgets (dead) 6d to 7d, interior and scedv 31d to 4id, green skins, ■halfbrads 7Jd, crossbred 43 Id to Ss Id, merinos 5s lid. Hides Extra heavy ox up to BJd, medium 6Jd to GJd, light to 6d, slippy ox 2|d, cut" 4gd to s|d, cows, best 4Jd to 5Jd, cut 4d to sd, slippy and inferior 3&d to 4Jd, yearlings 3§d to 41, calfskins, best 6Jd, td 6gd, medium 3d to s§d, horse hides lis 3d. Tallow :—ln tins 23s to 233 3d nar cwt. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— We offered a fair quantity of sheepskins, hides, calfskins and a small lot of wool and iallow. There was a good attendance of buyers ?nd brisk competition was experienced for all lots. Calfskins were a little easier. We quote:— Wool—lnferior crutchings 3£d to 4d. Sheepskins—Merino (faulty) 7ki to Bd, crossbred (fine) ■ B|d to 9d, crossbred (coarse) B|d to 82d, crossbred (short woolled) 6£d to 7fd, dead 6£d to 7Jd, inferior and broken 4Jd to 6id, green skins from 5s to 8s 43. Hides-Ox (light) 4*d to SJd, cow (light) 4Jd to 4gd, damaged 3id to 4d. CalfskinsSound 6§d to 61d, damaged ljd to sjrd. Tallow—Rough fat to 17s per cwt. in tins to 22s 6d.
