GASWORKS LOAN.

THE PROPOSAL CARRIED. A poll of the ratepayers of Masterton was taken, yesterday, on the proposal to raise a loan of £12,000 for new tuildings, ■ manufacturing plant, extensions of mains and services, meters, stoves, fittings and contingencies in connection with the Gasworks. Very little interest was taken in the poll. Out of a total of over 1,000 ratepayers on the roll only 361 recorded their votes. The poll closed at 6 p.m. and in less than five minutes Mr R. Brown, returning officer, had the result available. It was not announced, however, for the reason that there was nobody at the Drill Hall to hear the result. The voting was as follows: For the Against proposal, proposal. Drill Hall ... 102 44 Kuripuni ... 8 7. Totals ... 110 51 There were no informal votes recorded.
