MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

* WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee of the Masterton Borough, Council met, last evening, there, being present Crs J. H. Pauling (chairman), A. Haughey, J. Prentice, W. Morris, and W. Pragnell.

The work of completing the crown of the road in Chapei Street, north of Renall Street, was authorised to be put in hand at once.

It was decided to have the culvert in South Road, about which complaints have been made as to thf adjoining properties* being flooded, cleared out. It was resolved* to have the footpath in High Street gravelled from Cockburn Street to the Kuripuni triangle. , Messrs Winter Bros.' application for the extension of the high pressure water mains to a house which they are building in High Street, was granted. It was resolved to invite tenders, for the lease for a term of fourteen years of 128 acres of the waterworks reserve.

Crs Pauling, Morris and Pragnell were appointed a deputation to wait on the A. and P. Association with a view to obtaining permission to place drainage pipes in the northern end of the Showgrounds. These pipes are intended to be. used for draining the proposed swimming baths which will be situated on the opposite side of Dixon Street from tne Showgrounds.
