WANGANUI TRAINING NOTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. - WANGANUI, September 23. Downfall, Gold Crest, All Red, Swimming Belt and Herevvard arrived on Saturday. Very little work was done on the track yesterday morning, the best galiop beinq; a half-mile by Muskerry in 51sec. The weather this morning was fine. Gold Crest and All Red galloped a mile, the latter finishing slightly ahead. Glenculloch, Goldbeater, and Swimming Belt ran a mile and a quarter, finishing together, though the latter looked to hold his companions safe. Assayer, General Kuroki, Le Beau and Mauri were given a round over hurdles. Assayer ran off at the second obstacle; the others jumped well throughout, and finished together. Explode and White Star covered a round at three-quarter pace, then sprinted the last seven furlongs. King's Birthday and St. Bill ran five furlongs together, neither being extended. The time lmin 7Jsec. Lerida did a couple of rounds over hurdles. Maniapoto was sent thvee rounds at a very solid pace, pulling hard all the way. Nordoff and Mulga Bill sprinted . four furlongs, the former showing most pace. Downfall moved freely over two rounds at three-quarter pace. Flying Wind streaked half a mile in 53sec. Wairarapa and Hereward were associated ii a half-mile spin, the time registered being 52$ sec. Armistice gal--1 )ped two rounds at a strong pace, having the San Fran—Melinite filly as companion on the first round, and Guiding Step on the last circle. The New Zealand Cup candidate shaped very pleasingly,and finished strongly. Helen Portland and Signor ran five furlongs, taking lmin 6Jsec. A large number of others did useful work.
