WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST P. AND A. SOCIETY.
MONTHLY MEETING.' (From Our Carterton Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society was held at Carterton yesterday. There were 20 members present, ar.d Mr 11. McPhee occupied the chair. The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture wrote regretting that the Department would be unable to send an officer to. judge the produce at the forthcoming Show. It was resolved to appoint Mr S. A. Dumbleton, of Waitara, to act as judge. The Otago A. and P. Association ■wrote suggesting that the Dominion of New Zealand should be represented at the chief shows in Great Britain. The Society decided to support the Otago Society in asking the Government to take the matter in hand. A Challenge Cup, valued at 10 guineas, was donated by Mr D. Douglas for the most points in the Southdown class, and a silver Shield was offered by the New Zealand Sheepbreeders' Association for the champion jjkglish-Leicester ram, registeretTW. the Association's Flock Book. Votes of thanks were accorded to the donors of these prizes. Five new members were elected. The names of the sub-committee appointed to act with the Society in electing a representative from the Wairarapa to act on the Executive Council at the Agricultural Conference, were received from the Masterton A. and P. Association.
The Treasurer's statement showed a debit of £B7, with subscriptios outsanding amounting to £l7. Accounts amounting to £4 2s 6d were passed for payment.
