SEVENTEEN HUNDRED PEOPLE DROWNED. Received September 20, 11.37 p.m.PORT DARWIN, September 20. The steamer Tsinan brings news that cholera is raging in many parts of Japan. There have also been great storms and floods, 1,700 people being drowned. At Lukuchiyuma many people were buried under landslides, while Yokohama experienced the greatest floods during the past forty years.
