MONTGOMERY'S ENTERTAINERS.
There was a large audience at the entertainment given in the Town Hall last evening, by Montgomery's Entertainers. The programme included moving pictures and a number of variety turns, and the entertainment was on the whole very enjoyable. The pictures shown embraced a variety of subjects, and were practically free from flicker. The film showing the football match between the "All Blacks" and New South Wales, played at Sydney, was a lengthy one, and gave the audience a splendid idea of the play. Another picture that appealed to New Zealanders was that representing the championship sculling match between Webb and Towns. The audience were given glimpses of Webb at his training, and then the start of the race, the alleged foul, the crowds on the banks of the Parramatta, and the finish, which resulted in an easy victory for the New Zealander, wero in turn thrown on the canvas. Incidents in Wagner's great opera "Parsifal" were a decided feature of the picture programme. Interest in this pictaie was sustained from the temptation of "Parsifal" at the commencement to the ultimate redemption of "Kundry." Other notable pictures were "Black Beauty," "Cadet Evolutions," "The Orphan Girl." "Three Ha'porth of Leeks," and "A Moonlight Dream," the last two being very humourous pictuies.
The vocal portion of the programme was contributed to by Miss Ettie Hargood and Mr Will Monks. The former sang "Will You Love Me In December as You Do In May," in her usual capable style. Mr Monks was loudly applauded for his humourous songs, the best of which was "We Parted 011 the Shore," Professor Harmons' playing on various musical instruments, was very good.
