ANNOYING HIS MOTHER.

By Telegraph—Press Association

DUNEDIN, September 18

At the Police Court, this morning, before Mr C. C. Graham, S.M., Robert Gartnshore was charged with maliciously disturbing the inhabitants of a house in Russell Street by using a noisy instrument—a hand organ.

It appeared that accused, had taken exception to his mother's action in disposing ot certain property to her daughter, and deliberately went to the house with an organ night after night. He went right opposite the door of his mother's bedroom, and had actually gone into the house and callfed his mother objectionable names. Accused had refused to cease playing the organ, notwithstanding that the police had remonstrated with him. His mother was 79 years of age. s

The defence was that the reasort of accused's conduct was to show disapproval of being excluded from his mother's presence. Defendant got the organ and played "Home, Sweet Home" on only one occasion. The magistrate characterised the offence as a serious one, and fined accused 30s. with costs £2 4s.
