Fry, the Sussex batsman, heads the hatting list for the season with an average of 462 runs. Champain, of Gloucester, was second, his average being 46 3-5, and P. F. Warner of Middlesex, third, 46|. Hayward, of Surrey, came fourth, with an average of 45|. Others well up are: Hobbs, Surrey, 37J; Hayes, Surrey, 352; Gunn, Notts, 32 3-5; Tarrant, Middlesex, 32 1-3; Hutchings, Kent, 30 4-5; Crawford, Surrey, 30|; A. 0. Jones, Notts 28,|; Fane, Essex, 28 2-5; Young, Cambridge. 28; Hardstaff, Notts, 27*; Braund, Somersetshire, 26i; Marshall, Queensland and London County, 24g; Poidevin, New South Wales and Lancashire, 23g; Cuffe, Worcestershire, 23 3-5; Rhode?, Yorkshire, 22g; Humphries, Derbyshire, 12 2-5 (?). Schwarz, South Africa, one of the team which recently toured England, heads the bowling averages, with 137 wickets at a cost of 1.1 4-5 runs per wicket. Kallam, Derbyshire, ran into second place—l.o7 wickets, average 12-g. Haigh, Yorkshire, was third, 102 wickets for an average of 12 4-5; Wass, Notts, fifth, 163 wickets, average 14:|; Blythe, Kent, tenth, 183 wickets; average 15 2-5; Rhodes, Yorkshire, 177 wickets, average 15J; Tarrant, Middlesex, 83 wickets, average 152; Fielder, Kent, 172 wickets, average 16$: A. Trott, Middlesex, 96 wickets, average 15g; Crawford, Surrey, 124, average 17; Cuffe, Worcestershire, 107 average 19; Braund, Somersetshire, 62, average 25 1-3.
