CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the Schoolhou.e on -Monday evening. There ware present Messrs J. Brown (chairman), A. F. Wilson, H. Wilson, ar.d J. Nicholls. The Treasu-er reported as follows:—General, Account, cr., £l7 Is 2d; Special Account, cr., £7 8s 3d; Technical Account, cr., £lO 14s 3d; Agricultural Account, cr., £l3 17s lid. It was decided to notify the Education Board that the new shelter sheds at the old school had been completed, and ask the Board to inspect the same. It was resolved to make application to the Board for money for payment for cooking appliances which had been installed in the school. A resolution was passed severing the Carterton School from the Wairarapa School, Committees' Association. A circular from the New Zealand Bookbinders and Paperrulers' Society with regard to a uniform standard of books was supported by the Committee. At the Magistrate's Court, to-day, before Messrs J. Brown and W. Moore, J's.P., W. J. Lindop and Son, chemists, proceeded against G. T. Glyn-Jones, indent agent, of Wellington, for the recovery of £l4 13s Id, refund of amount paid by plaintiffs for certain goods through defendant from Lorimer and Co., London. Mr Lavery appeared for the plaintiffs. After hearing evidence, the Bench gave judgment for the plaintiffs for the full amount claimed with costs amounting to £2 6s.
