MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
GAS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Borough Gas and Finance Committee was held, last evening, there being present—Crs Temple (chairman), Ewington, Elliott, and Yarr. The Manager of the Gasworks stated that he was testing the street lamps in Queen Street to ascertain what quantity of gas they were consuming, so that the Committee would know whether they were losing or not on the lamps. A fuller report on the matter would be submitted at the next meeting. An application for the extension of gas to Michael Dixon Street was allowed to stand over until the next meeting, to enable the Manager to report fully on the matter. The Manager was directed to apply to the Arbitration Court, under the Plumbers' Award, for exemption from the Award respecting the Gasworks. The Chairman and Cr Yarr were authorised to settle the account with\ the Renall Estate Trustees regarding the cost of a culvert. Accounts amounting to £1,272 14s 9d were passed for payment.
