Y.M.C.A.

A SOCIAL EVENING. The ladies who worked so assiduously to make the recent Y.M.C.A. Bazaar a success were entertained by the members of the Association at a social in the Rooms last evening. Mr P. L. Rollings, President of the' Association, occupied the chair, and there were about fifty persons pre sent. The evening: was devoted to songs, speeches and toasts, and an , enjoyable time was spent. The general arrangement of the tables, etc., reflected great credit on Mr and Mrs A. P. Fielding, the custodians. The Chairman read a bahncc iheet in connection with the recent bazaar, which showed that the receipts had been £3lO 17s Gd and the expenditure £144 8s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £166 9s 2d. The Chairman said that he considered the balance sheet satisfactory, and complimented the ladies on the splendid work they had done. Several of the items on the expenditure side of the balance sheet would probably be refunded. Mr Boilings went on to say that the Board of Management would almost immediately consider the question of obtaining a paid secretary to organise the whole of the work of the Association in Masterton. The present honorary secretary (Mr A. E. Rees) had proved a capable officer, but the work was undoubtedly becoming arduous, and Mr Rees could not be expected to devote the time to Y.M.C.A. matters the position of secretary demanded. The toasts honoured were as follow:—"The King," the Chairman; "The Ladies," Messrs A. J. Parton and A. E. Rees —Miss Joy; "Y.M.C.A.," Mrs Donald—the Chairman; "Donors," Messrs W. Kemp and D. Hebenton—Rev. A. M. John£tm; "The Press," Mr A. Donald. During the evening songs were rendered by Misses Joy, 0. Richards, M. Tait, and Messrs J. Gray and S. Earee. Mis? M. Wagg and Mr W. Kemp contributed recitations, and j Mr E. Burrows a violin solo.
