LOCAL' OPTION. Received September .15, 4.15 p.m. SIDNEY, September IS. The returns of 53 electorates have been . completed. Forty-five electorates voted for reduction, and eight for continuance. A TOTAL WRECK. Received September 16, 1 a.m. SYDNEY, September J5. The steamer Tomki is a total wreck on Richmond bar. The passengers and crew had a perilous experience, and landed by means of a lifeline placed aboard by the Rocket Brigade. HIDING IV A BANK. STRUGGLE WITH A WATCHMAN. BRISBANE, September 14. While a watchman was going the rounds a* the Queensland National Bank he discovered a man hiding in the bank. The latter seized the watchman, but after a struggle the watchman got his revolver free and shot the intruder in the temple. The man was taken to the hospital. Received September 16, 1 a.m. BRISBANE, September 15. The man shot in the National Bank is dead. The proceeds of two city ro Series were found in his lodgings.
