HEREFORD BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association was held at Feilding, on Friday, says the Star. Mr D. P. Buchanan, the President, occupied the chair, and there were six present, and the Secretary, Mr G. R. Sykes. Mr J. McGregor proposed that the Association place on record its approval of the good work done by Mr Jas. Stuckey. Mr Stuckey had been very energetic in his action in connection with the Association, and they shoul d let him see that they appreciated his good work. Mr Stuckey, he believed, had objected to a presentation in a tangible form, but they should in some way place on record their sanse of the good work he had done. In addition to his services in connection with Hereford herds, he had left the Association in a sound financial position. Mr D. P. Buchanan seconded the motion with pleasure, but at the same time said Mr Stuckey's work had been recognised some time ago, a pie-:e of plate having been presented to Mr Stuckey, with the good wishes of the Association. The motion was carried unanimously. The President, in his remarks, said the annual report showed that the Association still continued to make steady progress, the financial year ending with a substantial credit balance, and a considerable increase in membership. A new departure had been made last year, in editing Volume 9, by adding the Rules of the Association, and also a list of prizes won by the different herds in New Zealand, and he hoped that members would i'i future be careful to send to the secretary account of the prizes won by them from year to year. Year by year the Herefords were coming mure into favour in America, Canada, Australia and other parts of the world, and at the last great International Show of Fat Stock lieli at Chicago, a Hereford steer, 11 months old, whose live weight was 9751b5, won pride" of place by winning the grand champion prize epen to all breeds. The President referred to the departure of Mr Jas. Stuckey, expressing regret that .he and his sons had sold their famous herds. He was a veteran stock breeder, and the President had to thank him for many valuable practical hints. It was a matter for congratulation'that nearly all Mr Stuckey's cattle remained in New Zealand. The officers for the year were elected as follows: -President, Mr D. P. Buchanan (re-elected); Vice-Presi-dent, Mr J. McGregor (Kaipo, Masterton); Councillors, Messrs F. W. Arbon (Pohangina), G. M. Currie • Wanganui), and A. J. Toxward (Palmerston North); auditor, Mr G. W. Sellar (Masterton); Treasurer, Mr J. McGregor (Masterton); Solicitor, Mr P. L. riollsngs (Masterton). The Question was asked if the Association" were for the North Island only or for the whole of New Zealand. The President said it was for the whole of the Dominion. They had be?n asked some time ago to unite with Australia, but they thought it better to confine it to New Zealand.
