A sensation has been created throughout the United States by the New Yoru World publishing the names, amounts, and heads of trusts which contribut°d to Mr Roosevelt's election campaign expensss in 1904. The amounts total £52,000. Received September 10. 10 a.m. NEW YORK, September 9. The New York World states that Mr Harriman gave £IO,OOO, the Standard Oil Trust £6,000, and Messrs Vanderbilt, Depew and Hyde £5,000 each, to secure Mr Roosevelt's return at last election. TREATMENT OF INDIANS. Received September 10, 7.26 a.m. LONDON, September 9. The Times, commenting on the recent outbreaks against Indians, and aDpealing for fair play for them, says:—"While the self-governing colonies are justified in taking adequate measures to preserve a splendid heritage to the white races, there is a point beyond which precautions become prejudiced; the adequate passes into the unreasonable." THE CAfTIVE KAID. < Received September 10, 8.20 a.m. LONDON September 9. The Times says it is impossible for any civilised Government to concede Raisuli's demands. (Raisuli's final terms for the release of Kaid Sir Harry Maclean included a guarantee of British protection, and Raisuii's appointment as Pasha of the district from Tatuan to Larache, besides an indemnity).
