The Kaid (Sir Harry Maclean) writes to the effect that he is suffering great hardships, owing to inadequate covering in a roofless hut. The weeks seem like years to him. Received September 9, 9.34 p.m. MOROCCO, September 9. Raisuli's final terms for the release of Kaid Sir Harry Maclean have been submitted to the British Legation at Tangier. Raisuli demands British protection, and his appointment as Pasha of the district extending from Tetuan to Laraiche, besides indemnity. (The Kaid was captured two months ago by the brigand Raisuli. The Shereefian troops were sent to effect his release, but so far without success).
