TRADES UNION CONGRESS.
Received September 9, 10 55 p.m. LONDON, September 9. The Trades Union Congress at Bath adopted a resolution declaring that the Unemployed Act would fail to touch even a fringe of the question, and urged the Government" to embark immediately on a work of public utility with a view to absorbing the unemployed, and thus beginning a permanent reorganisation of industry on a co-operative basis. Mr D. J. Shackelton, member of the House of Commons for Clitheroe, was chosen Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee. The next Congress will be held at Nottingham in 1908.
