CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday. About 50 coupbs were present at the Carterton Football Club's ball, which was held in the Victoria Hall, last evening. The function was a decided success. The hall was nicely decorated with wattle and evergreens. Conspicuous amongst the decorations were photographs of the Club and other photographs of much interest. Owing to some misunderstanding the medals won by players durirg the season were not presented, and Mr C. Reid offered an apology on behalf of the Club. The duties of M's.C. were ably carried out by Messrs J. and N. McKenzie, W. Hall and J. Nicholls (Secretary). The music was supplied by Messrs W. Heap (piano) and R. Crawley (cornet). Several extras were played during the evening. The vital statistics for the Carterton district for the month of August are as follow: Births 14, marriages 4 and deaths 3. There is much sickness in Carterton just now, and in some cases as many as three persons in a family are laid up. The continued wet weather that has been experienced of late is no doubt responsible for some of the complaints that people are suffering from.
