WHAREAMA RIVER.
A meeting of ratepayers interested in improving the Whareama River by preventing it from overflowing its banks and silting over all the lowlying lands from Black Swamp to Tinui Township, was held in the Casitpeoint County office, on Saturday last. Mr Dalziell occupied the chair. It was decided to raise a loan of £7OO, and to fix a rating area of properties who will henerit by the work proposed to be done, and also those who will benefit by the improvements to the roads when the overflow is stopped. It was resolved to asK the River Board to proceed with raising the loan by petition from those interested, the following properties to be included in the rating area Spring Hill, 250 acres, Mr C. A. Cameron; JRewe Rewe, 150 acres, Mr J. H. Cameron; Manawa, 750 acres, Mr W Dalziell; Riverside 120 acres, Mr W, S. Dickens; Ngapopatu, 714 acres, Mr R. L. Langdon; Lurch Bank, 634 acres, Mr J. S. Langdon; Tinui Station, 550 acres, Mr F. Moore; Flag Creek, 270 acres, Mr D. H. Speedy; Burton Fields, 245 acres, Mrs Stilborn; Black Swamp, 28 acres, Mr D. Stilborn; Annedale, 6UO acres, Misses Williams.
