THE SITUATION IN MOROCCO.
FOUR THOUSAND PRISONERS RELEASED. Received September 3, 8.54 a.m. MOROCCO, September 2. Mulai Hafid, the Sultan's brother, who has been proclaimed ruler in the south, has liberated 4,000 prisoners at Marakesh, including Uiimaani, one of Mr Madden's assassins. Uiimaani,. has been appointed chief of the Askaris tribe, in the vicinity of Casablanca.

Europeans who Quitted Fez have arrived hera, whence there is a great exodus for Algeciras. One thousand French troops and seven hundred Spanish troops are, landing to guard Tangier. (Mr Madden, Austro-Hungarian Vice-Consul, and a Britisher, was murdered on June 12th, 1906. A gang of Moors entered the vice-con-sulate and killed him, also unsucessfully attempting to shoot his wife, a niece of the late Sir Kirby Green. Ben Yusef was the instigator of the murder, and he and five accomplices were arrested. The object of the crime was to recover certain title deeds in Mr Madden's possession.)
