FOUR THOUSAND PRISONERS RELEASED. Received September 3, 8.54 a.m. MOROCCO, September 2. Mulai Hafid, the Sultan's brother, who has been proclaimed ruler in the south, has liberated 4,000 prisoners at Marakesh, including Uiimaani, one of Mr Madden's assassins. Uiimaani,. has been appointed chief of the Askaris tribe, in the vicinity of Casablanca.

(Mr Madden, Austro-Hungarian Vice-Consul, and a Britisher, was murdered on June 12th, 1906. A gang of Moors entered the vice-con-sulate and killed him, also unsucessfully attempting to shoot his wife, a niece of the late Sir Kirby Green. Ben Yusef was the instigator of the murder, and he and five accomplices were arrested. The object of the crime was to recover certain title deeds in Mr Madden's possession.)
