$/rom a Correspondent.) The second of a series of socials was given by the Mauriceville Social * t Club on Friday evening. The socials are being held in aid of the Piano Fund. Owing to the inclement weather there was only a fair attendance. The entertainment was distinctly good, and the following items were well rendered and appreciated:— Overture, trio, Mrs C. Brooks (piano), Mr Fisher (violin), and Mr F. Marten (cornet); song, "Down Where the Swanee River Flows," MrsMcKenzie; recitation, "Boko," Mr F. O'Connor; song, "NobodyJust Like You," Mrs Fisher; "song, "Hear the Pipers Calling,'"_ Mr Jensen; character song, "Getting It By Degrees," Mr Mascelle. encore "I Bunt Out Laughing"; violin solo, Van Beiu'a "Broken Melody," Mr E. Larsen; song, "Bonny Barque," Mr Blackmore; song, "A Song That, Will Live For Ever," Mrs Fis.her (encored); character song. "That's Another," Mr O'Connor; song, "Keep on the Sunny Side," Mr Jensen; character song, "Bobbing Up and Down Like This," Mr Mascelle, (encored); dialogue, "Bashful John," by Mesdames Blackmore and Martan, Messrs O'Connor, Ben Hillas, and Len Brooks. The accompaniments were v played by Mrs C. Brooks, Miss Reeve, and Messrs McKenzie and Jensen. After refreshments had been served the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept up till the early hours of the morning. By special request, Misses Winnie and Alice Reeve, of Wellington, sang " Put a Little Bit Away for a Rainy Day." In resnonse to an encore they sang "Walking Home With Angeline." Miss Winnie Reeve aiso sang. "If the Man in the Moon Were a Coon."
