CARTERTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Saturday. Miss M. A. Broa-lbent, of the staff of the Carterton School, who has been on sick leave for some weeks, has been granted three months' further leave of absence. Owing to the heavy rain which fell to-day the football match to have been played between the Carterton and Mascerton Fire Brigades '•was postponed. A large number of Carterton residents journeyed to Parkvale on Friday night to attend a social and dance which was held by the Parkvale Dairy Factory milk suppliers. Miss Berrill (piano) and Miss Petersen (violin) were the musicians, and during the evening several vocal items were contributed. Messrs F. Burling. C. Lorenzen and G. Eaton \veve the M's.C.
