WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held on Thursday. There were presentMessrs R. Lee, W. Allen, J. Kebbell, A. H. Vile. A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., W. H. Field, M.H.R., Captain T. VV. McDonald. After paying accounts amounting to £6,574, the different accounts will stand as follow:—Buildings account, dr., £B7B 19s 9d; general account, cr., £2.070 0s 2d; secondary account, cr., £lO5 17s 3d; manual and technical, cr., £533 15s 2d; technical account, cr., £56 16s 6d; teachers' salaries, cr., £1,062 lls9d; deposit account, cr., £4B 8s 9d. The debit balance of £913 6s lOd at the end of July was converted into a credit of £2,998 9s lOd, contract liabilities amounting to £461 4s. On the recommendation of the Works Committee, the following gransnts were authorised: —Makara, latrines; Balalnce, wooden gate; Kerens, repairs; Te Aro, latrines; Opaki, fence repairs; Nireaha. metal around residence; Kopuaranga, half cost of ■ dividing fencr; Kohinui, urinal and grate, papering two rooms; Matarawa, repairs to residence and school; Scarborough, grates and guards; Greytown, bathroom. The following requisition was de-clined:-Greytown, papeiing residence. An application for an extra grant of £2 for work at the Newman School was agreed to. The Government declined the request for a grant of £340 for a school at Waterfalls. Members expresed surprise that such a large sum had been asked for, and it was decided to make a request for £IOO. ■
