MISS JESSIE MACLACHLAN.

(To the Editor). Sir, —Noticing in the columns of the local papers a rumour to the effect that Miss Jessie Maclachlan, the Scotch singer, would be unable to carry out her engagement in the Masterton Town Hall on Monday, September 2nd, owing to illness, I beg to contradict that rumour as totally unfounded. Upon seeing the above in print, I immediately wired Mtes Maclachlan on the subject, and received an immediate reply stating that the lady in question had no intention whatever of breaking her engagement for Monday next.' Thanking you, on her behalf, for the use of your valued columr.s. —I cm, etc., T. LWYER.
