EIOTING AND CATTLE DRIVING. k MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ARRESTED. Received August 29, 5.24 a.m. LONDON, August 28. Mr Farrell, a member of the House of Commons, and fifteen others, were committed for trial at Langford on charges of participating in a riot and cattle-driving in the Newtown Forbes district, and assaulting the police. A baton charge by the constabulary failed. Bail was accepted. Mr Farrell objected to the court's jurisdiction, urging that the case should be taken at Newtown Forbes. The present court, he said, was a "star chamber" one. and if time permitted a writ of prohibition would be obtained from the High Court. Received August 29, 10.41 p.m. LONDON, August 27. Fifteen others have been committed for trial at Longford in connection with the cattle driving cases, including Mr McKenzie, a .candidate for the Southern Division of Longford, who delivered an inflamatory speech. Received August 29, 11 p.m. LONDON, August 29. The Milltown, Galway, Branch of the Irish National League has resolved "that a deputation wait upon the graziers and ask them to surrender their lands in Nove-nber before the people are obliged to take stronger means to bring an odious class to their senses."
