STOCK MARKET.
The New- Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows:—At Pahiatua, on Tuesday, our sheep entries were confined to ewes in lamb, which, being good, sold readily. In cattle we had a full yarding of all classes. All steers and young cattle met with a ready sale, as did any good class heifers and springers, old cows only being hard to quit. However, before of the day we made a cleararflWfln dairy cows we submitted no less than three dairies for different settlers, all selling, but at low figures, owing to pcior condition and late dates. At Masterton, on Wednesday, sheep came forward beyon.i advertised list, and, either under the hammer or by private treaty afterwards, all changed hands: The mutton offering was not of prime quality. In cattle we submitted some useful steers, yearlings, and heifers, and all this class found a ready market. Prices:—At Pahiatua, ewes in lamb up to 17s 3d, 2 to 3 year steers £4 17s 6d,J18 months steers £2 19s Cd, yearlings 30s to 40s, calves 20s to 255, empty heifers 32s to 40s, springers 60s to 70s. In dairy cows, according to class, the range v/as from £2 to £Z ss. At Masterton, fat wethers 225, fat ewes 17s 6d, forward ewes 14s, store ewes 10s to lis, best store wethers 20s, others 17s to 17s Sd, best hoggets 15s 6d, others 14s to lis.
Messrs Dalg2ty and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held out fortnightly sale, yesterday, at Masterton. Sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers, and, with the exception of one pen of hoggets, we made a complete clearance of the yarding. Fat cattle were eagerly sought after. We quote—Fat ewes 19s, fat wethers (light) 21s, empty ewes 14s 6d, hoggets 14s 6d, f.m.
