ROYAL GRAND OPERA COMPANY.
The performance announced to be given by Mr George Musgrove's Koyal Grand Opera Company,_ on Tuesday evening next, certainly marks an important era in the musical history/Of Masterton. A contemporary says:—"New Zealand has enjoyed'many representations of English opera by English singers and more than one representation of Italian operas "by Italian artists, but Mr Musgrove's present company is the •first organisation to present in this part of the world a complete repertoire of the favourite old operas combined with the newer-fashioned Wagnerian works.'' The opera to be given here next Tuesday is Gounod's world-famous work, "Faust," this being the most popular -in the repertoire of the company. This work will be given in the same complete way as regards scenery, costumes, and general mounting as in the large cities, the production of which calls on the services of over one hundred people. The box plan for this performance is now open at Miss Rive's.
