GORE-ROXBURGH RAILWAY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. GORE, August 23. At a largely attended pubiic meeting to-night, presided over by the Mayor, to consider the question of the Gore-Roxburgh Railway, the following resolution was carried unanimous-ly-.—"That this meeting urges the Government to obtain an independent engineer's report on the rival routes to Roxburgh before expending further money on the Lawrence-Rox-burgh Railway, the feeling being that such a report would disclose an immense advantage in favour of the Moa Flat route, both in regard to cost of construction and payable prospects of the railway itself." It was resolved to send copies of the motion to every member of Parliament, and.ask them to co-operate. The Invercargill Railway League will send a deputation to Wellington at an early date in connection with the matter.
