Y.M.C.A. VILLAGE FAIR.
* As was anticipated by the management, the Village Fair, last evening, was very successful, the sum of £65 being taken from all sources. The attendance uf the public was larger than on the preceding nights, especially in the Town Hall. Early in the evening a torchlight procession consisting of the Masterton Municipal Brass Band and the Fire Brigade marched through various streets. The effect of the procession was heightened considerably by the use of coloured lights. In the Town Hall, in the presence of a very large audience, the dances by Mrs Kendall's pupils, as given on the opening night, were repeated with equal success.' The coloured lights used in connection with the dances were arranged by Mr S. Check. There were three additions to the programme. Miss Doris Guise, of Wellington, upheld her reputation as a clever dancer by the artistic manner in which she executed a skirt dance. She was warmly applauded. Later on in the programme she appeared with Misses 0. Richards and V. Edwards in another well-arranged dance. Miss Vera Edwards sang "Priscilla" with success, and followed the song up with a dance. This evening the orchestra will assist in the dances, and Miss Guise will appear in various dances. The raffles last evening' wers won by Mesdames Cairns (765), S. Miller (642),' Miss Montgomery (283), and Messrs S. Temple (411), E. Pelling (555), and W. Hornblow (930).
