Y.M.C.A. VILLAGE FAIR.

— -a, The second night of the Y.M.C.A. Village Fair was equally as successful as the first night, the attendance on both eveni. . j-aing about the same. Good business was transacted at each of the stalls. The raffles that were decided last evening were won by the following, the numbers of the winning tickets being in parentheses: —Mesdames S. Prott (13), H. C. Robinson (20), and Mackersey, and Messrs li. Harding (17), 0. Gaily (16), and S. Cross (6). The amount realised last evening was between £6O and £7O. The programme in the Town Hall was a varied one, and was thoroughly appreciated by a large audience. Four musical items were rendered by the Masterton Orchestral Society. The first was a series of Scottish melodies, entitled "Wee McGregor," and thn was followed by a piccolo solo by Mr J. Barrett entitled "Birds of Paradise," with Orchestral accompaniment. The other items were "March of the Hussars" and "Gustave's Oration/' Each of the selections were played excellently, and received warm applause. A series of tableaux vivants, arranged by Mr S. Earee, followed. The subjects of the tableaux were as follow:—"Crossing the Desert," "Rock of' Ages," "Under the Old Umbrella," "The Choristers," and "Ora Pro Nobis." The programme was brought to a conclusion with a gymnastic display by the following members of the Y.M.C.A.: —S. Hogg, W. Williams, J. McHattie, C. Jackson, 0. Gaily, L. Mason, S. Edwards, and H. Williams. The Fair this evening will be preceded by a torchlight procession, in which the Masterton Municipal Brass Band, the Fire Brigade, and Volunteers will take part. The procession will start from the Drill Hall at 7 p.m. and return via Hall, Chapel, Perry. Queen and HaU Streets. The dances by Mrs Kendalls pupils will also be repeated in the Town Hall this evening.
