The • New Zealand Loan and Mer> •cantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—A Pahiatua, on Tuesday, jthe yarding in both sheep and cattle "was small and quality only fair. Although bidding was lifeless under the hammer we succeeded in disposing of practically all the sheep after the sale at good rates. Second qual - j :.Ity hoggets and good ewes in lamb brought up to 12s 3d and 15s 3d I respectively. In cattle very little j trade was done. At Masterton, on j "Wednesday, for the time of year, we ! ;had a good yarding of sheep, but few j cattle. In the former the quality was, ' • with the exception of a few pens, j medium only, but although bidding ; ■ was not brisk we eventually placed ; -the major portion. The quality in beef, empty fat cows and heifers ; was excellent, and good competition . resulted. Prices:—Hoggets 12s to 16s, empty ewes 13s 9d to 14s, ewes in lamb 15s 3d, fat cows and heifers .£7 15s, springing haifers- £4 to £4 17s 6d, ecws £4 10s to £6 2s 6d. At the sale at Hukanui, on Thursday, we offered Mr A. V. Udy's herd, consisting of about 50 head, besides bulls, heifers, yearlings and horses. The attendance was fair, and the coinpetitbn for the caws good, a very suc--cesiful clearance being effected. For the milkers the prices ranged from about £3 7s Gd to £9, representing an average of about £5 10s. Heifers sold at about £4 to £4 13s, bulls •(young) £2, yearlings (mixed) £l, horses £7 12s 6d to £l4 ss, sows £3. At Eketahuna, on Friday, the offerings of both sheep and cnttle were small, the former being represented by ewes in lamb, and the latter by springing i heifers. Everything was passed under the hammer, but the bulk of the sheep found purchasers afterwards at fair rates. Old ewes in lamb 15s 3d, and 2 and 4-tooth ewes in lamb brought up to 19s 6d. No business was done in cattle. .Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd , report having held their fortnightly sale at Eketahuna on Friday. Only one pen of sheep came forward, as ewes are now lambing, also only female cattle. Ewes, poor conditioned, sold at 18s 6d. ;, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held a sale on Mr O. Perry's farm, Newman, on Thursday, of his herd of dairy cows, etc. The cows, although in low condition, brought good prices, the average being £'■> lis Id; heifers in calf, small, £3; bulls to £2 18s; turkey hens 5s each; milk cans, 10s to 12s 6d; sundries brought good prices.
