LACfiffISSE. Received August 18, 5.8 p.m. ADELAIDE, August 18. The final test match resulted:— Canada, 6 goals; Australia, 4 goals. UATHURST-SYDNEY ROAD RACE. Received August 17, 8.44 p.m. SYDNEY, August 17. The annual road race from Bathurst to Sydney took place in fine weather. The roads were in excellent condition, but much indignation was expressed at some miscreant thickly strewing tacks on the road between Bathurst and Bowenfels, causing about 40 competitors topuncture their tyres, and in some instances over one hundred tacks were removed from tyres. There were 95 competitors, and the following was the result:—F. Aplin, 40min, 1; J. A. Aplin, 40 min, 2; Walcott 50min, 3. Large crowds lined the route at various interesting stages. Larcombe, last year's winner of thit. race, was among the contestants, but had the misfortune to break a crank before covering half the distance. The placed division got together in front before reaching Parramatta, and fought out a great finish, F. Aplin crossing the line a couple of leng'.hs in front of A. Aplin, who was a similar distance ahead of Walcott. The time (riding) occupied by the winner was 7hrs 59min. A. Aplin's time was 7rs 59min 2-ssec, and Wakott's Bhrs 9min 36sec. G. Hoder, from scratch, finished fourth, and made the quickest time, viz., 7hrs 35min 45sec.
