DEATH OF MR MURDOCH M'KENZIE.

The death occurred at his residence, Dannevirke, on Tuesday evening last, after a short illness, of Mr Murdoch AlcKenzie, a pioneer settler of the Wairarapa district- Death was due to internal inflammation. The deceased was born in Rosshire, Scotland, un May 12th, _ 1842, and came to Australia with his parents in August 1852, arriving in Melbourne by the brig "Flash." came to New Zealand in 1855. at the time of- the heavy earthquake, and arrived in Masterton in February, 1856. Mr McKenzie was overseer of the Masterton Road Board for a nun.ber of years. He severed his connection with the service of the Board in 1891, and left Masterton shortly afterwards. Messrs Donald McKenzie, of Masterton, Rhoderick McKenzie, of Fernridge, and John McKenzie, of Upper Plain, are brothers of the deceased, and Mrs John McKenzie, of Te Whiti, and Mrs McDonald, of Maryborough, are sisters. Mr Alex. McKenzie, of Homebush. i 3 a son of the deceased. The deceased was respected by all who knew him for those sterling qualities typical of the early pioneers.
