HOROWHENUA HACK RACING CLUB. For its meeting, to be held on September 11th and 12th, the Horowhenua Hack Racing Club sub mit a programme of fourteen event 5, with a total stakes of 980 sovs, 530 sovs being allotted to the first day's events and 450 for the second day's races. The principal events of the meeting are the Horowhenua Cup, 150 sovs, and the Weraroa Handicap, 100 sovs, the other events being liberally treated, so that substantial nominations may be expected. Nominations for all events will close with the secretary, Mr F. G. Roe, Weraroa, Levin, on Friday, August 23rd.

Judging from present indications, the forthcoming meeting of the Marton Jockey Club promises to be most successful. The very effective work recently carried out on the course, including improvements to the appointments, has been very favourably commented upon, and cannot fail to attract the practical attention of horse-owners and trainers. Nominations close on Friday next, the 16th ir.st., and everything points to a liberal response on the part of owners and trainers. BELLIS INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Eclair fenced correctly over one flight and the double, while Cavalry's fencing was correct over three flights, and Merriwai and Waipu made capital displays over five flights, maintaining a solid pace throughout. Le Beau is lame from the effects of over-reaching, and is not likely to be started at ;the and Cuiragno is showing unmistakable signs of lameners. Paritutu was given a schooling task over six flights, but his performance was disappointing.
