PARLIAMENT.

By Telegraph —Parliamentary Correspondent. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. WELLINGTON, August 9. In the House of Representatives, this afternoon, the Reserve Fund Securities Bill was finally passed. The Estimates were further considered in committee. The public buildings and domains vote (£39,007) was passed unaltered. The maintenance of roads vote (£25,000) was next considered. Mr W. Hemes (Bay of Plenty) urged that the votes for roads should be specified as formerly. The Hon. J. McGowan said that would be supplied when the Public Works Estimates were brought down. Mr Hcrrics appealed to members not to pass the vote until the information was supplied.

EVENING SITTING. When the House resumed at 7.30 o'clock, Mr J. T. M. Hornsuy, speaking on the main roads vote, said that he was satisfied with the administration of the Department. There was no use expecting th2 Department to do the whole of the roads at once. He wished to give a word of praise to the officers of the Department in connection with the work done. Mr A. W. Hogg endorsed Mr Hornsby's remarks, and said that the work done under Government supervision was better than what was done under the local authorities. The Native Department vote (£270,884) was passed unaltered.
