AUSTRALIA v. NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received August 6th, 9 a.m. BRISBANE, August 6. In accordance with an agreement between the New South Wales and Queensland Selection Committees, under which, in case of a deadlock, the deciding vote was to be exercised by New South Wales, the selection of the team to represent Australia on Saturday next was made last night. The New South Wales selector, taking advantage of the agreement, exercised hi 3 deciding vote, with the result that Queensland players were excluded, and the team will be the same as that which defeated New Zealand on July 17th. The Queensland Union feels the position keenly, and the result will probably be a discontinuance of combined teams representing New South Wales and Queensland.

Received August 6, 10.40 p.m. SYDNEY, August 6. A special meeting of the New South Wales Rugby Union will be held to-morrow evening, when it is understood that an agreement will be arrived at whereby the players in Saturday's match will be asked to sign a declaration to the effect that they do not intend to take part in the match against the New Zealand professional team. Several of the home players are said to have promised to take part in the professional carnival. The manager of the New Zealand team says that he has no intention of asking his men to sign any further declaration, they having already satisfied their Union. Owing to the illness of his wife, Seeling will return to Auckland tomorrow.

The Junior representative match, Wairara a v. Wellington, will be played on August 31st. The following team will represent Red Star against Carterton, at Carterton, on Saturday next: —R. Hunt, Walker, P. Williams, McLacblan, Marsh, Adams, Chambers, Scorrar, Kevell, Corbett, Collett, Chamberlain, Todd, Clarke, Norman, Riley, Wickens, Welch.
