LONDON MARKETS.
The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioned', dated London, August 3rd:— The mutton market is slightly weaker with less demand. The supply meets the demand. Canterbury mutton is quoted at 4£d, North Island 3|d, ev/es 3d. Lamb is in active demand, at full prices. Canterbury brand 3gd. other than Canterbury s|d. The beef market is steady with a very good demand for hindquarters. Supplies of American chilled beef are likely to increase. Hindquarters 3£d, forequavters 2;d. The butter mark,: is firm for best quality only, of which the supply falls short of the demand. There is a weak market for second-class quality. Choicest New Zealand 101s, Danish 113s, Siberian 955, Canadian, no supplies in sight, Irish 10-is. The cheese market is quiet, with a tendency in favcur of buyers. New Zealand white is quoted at 60s, coloured (scarce) 61s: Canadian, white 553, coloured s'3s.
