Building trades have been slack •during the month owing to the wet weather and bad state of the roads, which prevented building materials being brought through. Retail trade (general): All trades have been slack during" the month -owing to the wet weather, and flooded rivers, which prevented people coming into the town. Unskilled labour: All local men have been fairly employed during the month at scrub-cutting, chaff-cuttng, •draining, fencing, and at road work, but the wet weather prevented them getting in full time. There have been twice as many swaggers on the road during the month as in the previous one. The majority of them got employment in this district at scrubcutting, but the others, who had no swags and no knowledge of country work, had to keep travelling on in search of suitable employment.
