N.Z. HEREFORD CATTLE BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.
The following is the report of the New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association for the year ended June 30th, 1907:—Herewith your Council forward you the eighth annual balance-sheet, which will be presented at the annual meeting of the Association, to be held at Hastie's Hotel, Feilding, on September 13th, at 1 p.m. It is a matter for congratulation that the Association has effected a profit of £56 4s 8d on the year's transactions, the balance of assets over liabilities now being £412 ss. You will note the fact that a considerable sum is shown as book debts. Since the statement of accounts was placed in the, hands of the auditor, however, a large proportion of the amount has been collected by the Secretary, too late, untorfcunately, to figure as cash in hand. A noteworthy feature of the past year is .an increase of membership, the number of members on the roll now totalling 27. It is with extreme regret that your Council record the departure from New Zealand of Mr James Stuckey, the moving spirit in the formation of the Association and an earnest worker in the interests therepf since its inception. Mr Stuckey acted as honorary secretary from November 18th, 1896, until August sth, 1905, and the present flourishing position of the Association, financial and otherwise, is, in a great measure, due to his efforts. His determination to take up his residence in England involves a serious loss, not only to this Association, but to the colony as a whole. Mr Stuckey having interested himself in the importation and breeding of various branches of high-class pedigree stock. For many years he has been one of the most successful breeders and exhibitors of show stock in New Zealand. You will be required to elect office-bearers, as usual, for the ensuing year. The President and Vice-President (Messrs D. P. Buchanan and A. H. Russell) with Messrs F. Arbon and J. McGregor, as members of the Council, as in the usual course, retire, but are eligible for re-election. Mr G. F. Moore resigns his seat on the Council. The opportunity is here taken to advise you that Mr Buchanan was elected President, by the Council upon the retirement of Mr Stuckey on May 3rd, 1907. Also, that at a general meeting of members, i. : i on October 31st, 1906, Messrs D. P. Buchanan and J. Holms were elected to fill the new seats in the Council created by a resolution of August 9th, 1906, to the effect that "The Association be managed by a Committee of not less than seven members, etc. (see Rule 10)." Messrs J. Holms and G. Wheeler retain their seats and it will therefore be necessary to elect three Councillors at the annual general meeting of members. Nominations for the position of President, VicePresident and Councillors wiil be received by the secretary at his office, Perry Street, Masterton, up to 1 o'clock on August 13th, =1907.
